Abigale Lee
Miller(born on 21st September 1965) is an American choreographer, dance
instructor and reality television host. Abby Lee Dance Company was started by
her. It aired on eight seasons of the show Dance Moms. On June 27, 2016, Miller
pleaded guilty to criminal bankruptcy fraud. Miller was sentenced on June 27
the 27th of June, 2016 to a year, one day , in federal prison. Miller was
released on February 27 in 2018. In April of 2018, she was diagnosed with
lymphoma, which is a kind of cancer that makes it impossible for her to walk.
She is confined to a wheelchair for mobility. Miller was a dancer in her early
years in Penn Hills, Pennsylvania, an Pittsburgh suburb. She attended classes
under the tutelage of her mother at the Maryen Lorrain Dance Studio. Miller
aged 14 at the time, was given the choreography and coaching of one of her
mother's dance teams. Miller became the sole owner of the studio and renamed
Reign Dance Productions in 1995. Miller was certified by Dance Masters of
America, and was a part of Dance Masters of Pennsylvania Chapter 10 (February
1986). However, DMA terminated her membership in February 2012 due to the fact
that Miller's reality show Dance Moms was a "complete false representation
of our teachers and their students" and was detrimental to the profession.
