Morgan was born on July 2 1989 (Alex Morgan age: 30) to Pamela and Michael Morgan. They raised her and her sisters, Jeni and Jeri, in the Los Angeles suburb of Diamond Bar. Morgan was an athlete of multiple sports throughout her youth, but she was only introduced to soccer at the age of 14. Morgan joined the Cypress Elite club team and came first in the Coast Soccer League under-16 championship. Morgan also finished third in the under-19 bracket. Morgan continued to refine her skills in soccer at Diamond Bar High School. Morgan was selected as an All-American Athlete by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA).
